About The Institution
Singapore American School (SAS) was established in 1956 as a college preparatory day school. At SAS's inception, the school had only 105 students. SAS's first classes were held in the colonial-style bungalow. And now, the number of students has grown to about 4,000 from 50 countries.

Throughout the years of growth at SAS's four campuses, the school has strived to create a dynamic learning environment that is student-centred, internationally-minded, actively engaged, positive and critical. Over time, SAS defining characteristics have included the range of courses offered, the quality of leadership and faculty, the clubs and activities available, the quality of the campus and the general atmosphere. SAS has come a long way in 60 years, just like the country in which it is located. SAS and Singapore have had similar experiences - progress, modernization, achievement and change.
